Springtime in D.C. Brings the Avon Walk for the Cure and Urgent Security Services is Proud to Have Assisted!

2015 continues to be both busy and exciting here at Urgent Security Services, one of the leading security companies in DC. In addition to providing security guard services to our existing clients, we also welcomed many new clients into our protective fold this year. As always, we want all of our clients, both new and established, to know that their safety and security are always our top priority.

Now to update you on some of what has been happening since our last post.

The Avon Walk for the Cure Event – Security Services Supplied By Urgent Security

For the second year in a row, we were honored to receive the contract to provide uniformed security guard services for a great cause, the Avon Walk for the Cure event in Washington, D.C. This year’s 2 day event was held on April 30 and May 1, and raised funds that will help to fight cancer and work towards a cure for this deadly disease.

Some of the beneficiaries of the funds raised by this year’s event include John Hopkins University – Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Cente r, Food and Friends , Georgetown University and many others. We are proud to have been a small part of this great event and hope that a cure for cancer will soon be found.

Guarding an Event is Not for the Novice

Security services for events of this magnitude should never be handled by temp agencies and guards who are not fully trained and experienced in this type of work. For the Avon Walk for the Cure Event, Urgent Security’s professionally trained guards handled a variety of sensitive duties designed to maintain high levels of safety and security. Some of the ways in which we were able to help included:

patrolling equipment staging locations in the Alexandria, VA area, much of which required overnight services
servicing ceremony locations around the clock on the National Mall at Washington, D.C.
providing access control
random and targeted foot patrols
providing general crowd control

Our guards are trained to notice suspicious individuals, activities and objects, even in crowded settings where the movement of the crowd and the event participants can make it easy for criminals to blend in. As we often say, “Urgent, but verify” to stay safe and secure, and we practice what we preach.
